1992-1993 Total International Series: This was an iconic match for Pakistan as they won their first game against South Africa in Durban. Invited to bat first, Pakistan scored 208/6 in 50 overs, while restricting the Proteas to 198. Waqar Younis was named player of the match for his 5-wicket haul.
1994-1995 South Africa v Pakistan: The two teams first played a Test match on 19th January, 1995 in Johannesburg. South Africa batted first and produced 460 & 259/7 dec, thanks to Brian McMillan’s knock of 113 in the first innings, and Daryll Cullinan’s unbeaten knock of 69 not out in the second innings. Pakistan chased the target; however, they were dismissed for 230 & 165.
1994-1995 Mandela Trophy: The two teams battled in the finals of the trophy. South Africa won the tournament by winning the first final by 37 runs and the second by 157 runs. Daryll Cullinan led the batting lineup with 64 runs, while Eric Simons took the responsibility of sacking Pakistani batters by taking 4 wickets. In the second final, Michael Rindel guided his side to victory with 106, closely supported by Gary Kirsten (87). 1996-1997 KCA Centenary Tournament: On 6th October, 1996, the Shaheens met the Proteas in Nairobi to play the final of the tournament. South Africa won the game by 7 wickets, as they completed the run chase of 204 effortlessly in 39.2 overs, at the loss of just 3 wickets. Gary Kirsten played an undefeated knock of 118 to guide the team to victory.
1997-1998 Pakistan v South Africa: The Proteas played a 3-match Test series with the Men in Green and won it 1-0 in 1997-98. While the first and the second matches were drawn, South Africa prevailed in the third match by 53 runs. 2000-2001 Godrej Singapore Challenge: South Africa won the final of the championship by 93 runs using the D/L method. The rain led the Proteas’ innings to be reduced to 35 overs, and they scored 197 at the loss of 7 wickets. However, Pakistan was bundled out at 121.
2006-2007 South Africa v Pakistan: The Shaheens and the Proteas battled the first Twenty20 internationals in Johannesburg, where South Africa won by 10 wickets.
