Fastest Fifty in IPL History (2008 to 2025)

Cricketers all over the world display their cricketing skills in the IPL. From bowlers to batters, the league has produced amazing players who have made new records and registered their names in the record books. But there is one record that fans, cricket pundits, and media admire the most is the fastest fifty in IPL. In the Indian T20 league, fans and cricket analysts have seen some terrific batting from both the Indian and international players. In this blog, we will cover the list of cricketers who have gone the fastest fifties in the league since the beginning in 2008 to the recent matches.

Fastest Fifty in IPL History: Top 10 Players

1. Yashasvi Jaiswal  – 13 Balls (RR vs KKR, 2023)

Yashasvi Jaiswal

Young Indian cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal tops the list for the fastest fifty in IPL. The 23-year-old Jaiswal scored a half-century in just 13 balls, becoming the top player to record a milestone. He made this record against the Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens at the age of just 21.

With several sixes and boundaries, Jaiswal helped his side complete the run chase. He hit 7 boundaries and 3 maximums, clinched the game for his team in the first few overs, making this match memorable for his fans and franchise, highlighting his cricketing skills at the early stage of his career.

2. KL Rahul – 14 Balls (PBKS vs DC, 2018)

KL Rahul

The right-handed Indian batter is second on the list. He struck the greatest and fastest fifty while playing for Punjab Kings, then known as Kings XI Punjab, in a match against Delhi Capitals in 2018. Rahul made history on April 8, 2018. He hit incredibly hard blows over midwicket and long-on and powerful cover drives on the front foot at the beginning of the innings.

3. Pat Cummins – 14 Balls (KKR vs MI, 2022)

Pat Cummins

Pat Cummins displayed his batting in 2022 season while playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders against the Mumbai Indians. Cummins tied the record with KL Rahul at that time in history by scoring a half-century in just fourteen balls. Cummins’ hitting style was anything but traditional; he hit 4 fours and 6 maximums, one of which was responsible for a 35-run over against Daniel Sams. Pat Cummins received the man of the match award for his marvellous performance, which changed the course of the game for both sides.

4. Romario Shepherd – 14 Balls (RCB vs CSK, 2025)

Romario Shepherd

In the IPL 2025 season, Romario Shepherd, the West Indian all-rounder, continued the fireworks throughout the Royal Challengers Bangalore innings against the Chennai Super Kings. Shepherd, who is usually reputed for his lower-order heavy-hitting, brought life to the RCB batting line-up with a stunning 14-ball 50. He attacked the spinners and medium pacers with fierce intent, hitting massive sixes down the ground, with plenty of gaps and a long follow-through. This intimidating finish would personify him all season.

5. Yusuf Pathan – 15 Balls (KKR vs SRH, 2014)

Yusuf Pathan

15 balls for 50. The innings was a reminiscence of one of Pathan’s best days as an attacking batsman. Having begun dismantling the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers from the first over, Pathan made those bowlers look foolish, and KKR’s chase seemed effortless. The crowd was on their feet as Pathan smashed five monstrous sixes and also struck six fours; that knock would have improved KKR’s Net Run Rate, which would be useful for KKR’s title-winning campaign.

6. Sunil Narine – 15 Balls (KKR vs RCB, 2017)

Sunil Narine

More often indicated as leg-spinners, Sunil Narine made himself known as a pinch-hitter and went on to create havoc against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2017. Narine opened the batting for KKR and spent just 15 balls to bring up his fifty! He used so much brute force in dispatching the RCB bowling lineup to all areas of the park. He scored 54 off 17 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes. His innings set the tone for what could only be described as one of the most lopsided matches of the season.

7. Nicholas Pooran – 15 Balls (LSG vs RCB, 2023)

Nicholas Pooran

Further West Indian Power hitting and Nicholas Pooran brought out the best in leg-spin by scoring a fifty off 15 balls for LSG against RCB in 2023. Pooran entered in the middle overs and took attack to the bowlers. He was cutting and driving both pacers and spinners with complete disdain for 25 balls, and always looking, seemingly clear it was going to be big ones down the ground, that it was just that day for LSG. They chased down an ask that looked difficult, with Pooran enjoying praise for his judgement of a tight single under pressure, and finishing.

8. Jake Fraser-McGurk – 15 Balls (DC vs. SRH, 2024)

Jake Fraser-McGurk

IPL 2024 kicked off with another young Australian talent… Jake Fraser-McGurk, joining the squad with two remarkable fifties off 15 balls each. The first came with Sunrisers Hyderabad and kept sliding into backup his humungous potential with extraordinary arrogance at the start of the order. The Delhi Capitals opener was in some serious touch and did not discriminate between the pace and spin in front of him; his timing and hand-eye coordination were exceptional. Freestyle shots and boundaries almost became his vernacular, as he completely flipped the match right within the power play.

9. Jake Fraser-McGurk – 15 Balls (DC vs. MI, 2024)

Jake Fraser-McGurk

Fast forward a few days after creating a maiden fifty, and he again performed the feat with the Mumbai Indians. It was no fluke; his second 15-ball fifty showed how his capability to replicating and how dangerous he could be in completing the match. The bowlers were figuring out how not to get run through the coals again, while he pulled out obscene shot-making with scoops, reverse sweeps, and sixes. His two innings of a single season put him right on the radar for any subsequent Australian international appearances that were around the corner.

10. Suresh Raina – 16 Balls (CSK vs PBKS, 2014)

Suresh Raina

Mr. IPL, Suresh Raina must have played some of the most amazing innings in IPL history, scoring a 16-ball fifty against Punjab Kings in the IPL 2014 Qualifier 2. Although he was dismissed on 87 off just 25 balls, and with the kind of hitting he did mostly in the powerplay, CSK came within touching distance of an impossible target. It was a great display of calculated aggression, re-establishing Raina among the most reliable match-winners in the IPL.
