1952 to 2007- Test Matches

  • 1952-1953 India v Pakistan: India and Pakistan played their first ever series of Test matches from 16 October to 12 November 1952. India defeated Pakistan 2-1, where the fourth and fifth matches of the series ended in a draw. India attained victory in the first and the third match by an innings and 70 runs and by 10 wickets. The second match, however, was won by Pakistan by an innings and forty-three runs. Hemu Adhikari, Vijay Hazare, and Polly Umrigar were India’s top hitters.  In the second match of the series, Fazal Mahmood, Pakistan’s top bowler, claimed a total of 12 wickets.
  • 1954-1955 Pakistan v India: Pakistan hosted the 2nd test match series, which was held between the time duration of 1 January to 26 February. The 5-match series resulted to be a draw. None of the teams triumphed over each other.
  • 1978-1979 Pakistan v India: Shaheens defeated Team India in a 3-match series 2-0, where the first match of the series ended in a draw. Major performers of Shaheens who delivered a brilliant performance were Imran Khan(4 wickets), Sarfraz Nawaz(4 wickets), Zaheer Abbas(235*), Javed Miandad(100), and Mushtaq Mohammad(78). 
  • 1982-1983 Pakistan v India: Pakistan clinched victory in a 6-match series 3-0 and proved their dominance on the home ground. The series took place from 10th December 1982 to 30 January 1983. The first, fourth, and fifth matches of the series ended in a draw, whereas Zaheer Abbas posted a double century (215) runs and was named the player of the match in the first game. Shaheens won the second match by an innings and 86 runs, the third match by 10 wickets, and the fourth match by an innings and 119 runs. Imran Khan took 8 wickets in the second match and 5 wickets in the third, and was chosen to become the man of the match. Unbeaten Javed Miandad scored 280 and earned the man of the match title in the fourth match of the series. 
  • 1998-1999 India v Pakistan: Both teams met to play a 2-match series in 1999. Shaheens won the first match of the series by 12 runs, and Team India won the second match by 212 runs. Pakistan got a chance to bat first in the first game, and they set the target of 238 and 286 runs in the first and second innings; unfortunately, India couldn’t surpass the target set by them. But India proved their power in the second chased down the target set by Shaheens, scoring 252 and 339 runs. 
  • 2003-2004 Pakistan v India: Pakistan hosted the 3-test match series at the following places in Multan, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. Men in Blue defeated Shaheens in the first and the third match of the series, and won the first match by an innings and 52 runs and the third by an innings and 131 runs. Pakistan earned victory in the second match by 9 wickets. India’s excellent batters were Virender Sehwag(309), Sachin Tendulkar(194*), and Rahul Dravid(270), who helped Team India win the series. 
  • 2005-2006 Pakistan v India: From 13 January 2006, the 3-match series played between India and Pakistan, where the first 2 matches resulted in a draw, and Pakistan won the third match on the home ground by 314 runs, was a big win for Shaheens, which was played on 29 January 2006 at National Stadium, Karachi. 
  • 2007-2008 India v Pakistan: India hosted a 3-match series 1-0, which was held in Delhi, Kolkata, and Bangalore. The last 2 matches of the series were declared to be a draw. Team India clinched victory in the first match against Shaheens by 6 wickets. Pakistan chose to bat first and set the target of 231 and 247, but it was very easy for India to surpass the target, scoring 276 and 203 runs in the first and the second innings.

1978 to 2025- One-Day Internationals

  • 1978-1979 Pakistan v India: Both teams played their first ODI 3-match series, where Pakistan defeated Indian on their home ground in 2 matches. India won the first game by four runs, Pakistan won the second by eight wickets, and India lost the third.  India made 170 runs while losing 7 wickets when they batted first, but Pakistan was unable to equal the score and only managed 166 runs. Mohinder Amarnath scored the highest among all and was named the man of the match. 
  • 1984-1985 Benson & Hedges World Championship: India and Pakistan played the third and the final match of the Benson and Hedges World Championship which was played between 7 cricket nations: India, Pakistan, Australia, England, West Inidies, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka between the time of 17 Februray to 10 March 1985. India demonstrated their dominance over Pakistan by winning both the matches. The third game was won by 6 wickets with 25 balls remaining, and they won the final by 8 wickets with 17 balls to spare. Major performers were Mohammad Azharuddin(93*), Roger Binny(4 wickets), Kris Srikkanth(67), and Kapil Dev(3 wickets). 
  • 1984-1985 Rothmans Four-Nations Cup: Rothmans Four-Nations Cup was played between India, Pakistan, England, and Australia in the month of March 1985. India and Pakistan played the first match of the series on 22 March 1985 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah. Team India won the match by 38 runs. Pakistan won the toss and chose to bowl first, whereas India batted first and posted 125 runs. Eventually, Shaheens couldn’t beat the target and scored only 87.  Imran Khan took 6 wickets and was declared the player of the match. 
  • 1986-1987 Champions Trophy: On 5 December 1986, India and Pakistan played the sixth match of the Champions Trophy at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah. This trophy was held between the four countries: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies between the time duration of 27 November to 5 December 1986. Pakistan won the match by 3 wickets with 9 balls remaining.
  • 1986-1987 India v Pakistan: Pakistan showcased their gameplay and won the 6-match series 5-1. Pakistan won the first, second, fourth, fifth, and sixth matches of the series, whereas India only won the third game. Shaheens won the first game by 3 wickets, the second by 2 wickets, the fourth by 6 wickets, the fifth by 41 runs, and won the sixth match of the series by 5 wickets. Pakistan’s key performers were Wasim Akram, Saleem Malik*, Salim Jaffer, Javed Miandad, and Abdul Qadir, who helped Pakistan to secure a win in the series. 
  • 1993-1994 Pepsi Austral-Asia Cup: This series took place between Pakistan, India, UAE, Australia, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka, held between 13 April to 22 April 1994. Team India and Shaheens played the third and the final match of the series on the following dates: 15 April 1994 and 22 April 1994 in Sharjah. Pakistan whitewashed India in both matches by 8 wickets in the third and by 39 runs in the final match. Saeed Anwar won the man of the match in the third game, whereas Aamir Sohail earned the man of the match award in the final match of the series. 
  • Asia Cup 2000: India and Pakistan played the fifth match of the series on 3 June 2000 in Dhaka. The Asia Cup took place between the four cricket nations: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. Pakistan won this match by 44 runs and scored a total of 297 with the loss of 7 wickets. Pakistan’s batter Mohammad Yousuf made a century and earned the man of the match title. Abdul Razzaq showcased his bowling skills and took 4 wickets. 
  • DLF Cup 2006: Both teams played a 2-match series of ODIs, which was held on 18 April 2006 and 19 April 2006 in Abu Dhabi. The first match was won by Shaheens by 6 wickets with 9 balls to spare, whereas Team India won the second match of the series by 51 runs. In the second game, India won the toss and decided to bat first, scoring 269 runs with the loss of 5 wickets, whereas Pakistan couldn’t surpass the target set by Indian and produced 218 runs all out. Rahul Dravid won the man of the match in the second game as he scored the highest runs among all the players and clinched victory over Shaheens. 
  • Pakistan in India ODI Series 2012/13: India hosted a 3-match series of 50-overs, which was held between 30 December 2012 to 6 January 2013. Pakistan clinched the series 2-1. The first match was won by 6 wickets with 11 balls remaining, and the second match by 85 runs, whereas India won the third match of the series by 10 runs. 
  • ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: In this World Cup 14 cricket nations were divided into two sections, i.e., Pool A and Pool B. New Zealand, Australia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, England, Afghanistan, and Scotland were part of Pool A. whereas India, South Africa, Pakistan, West Indies, Ireland, Zimbabwe, and UAE were part of Pool B. This World Cup series is held between 14 February to 29 March 2015, where India and Pakistan played the fourth match of the series on 15 February 2015 at Adelaide, and India won this by 76 runs. India batted first and produced 300 with the loss of 7 wickets. Pakistan couldn’t beat the target and scored only 224 all out. Virat Kohli posted a century and was named the man of the match. 
  • ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Both teams played the fifth match of the ICC Champions Trophy on 23 February 2025 in Dubai. The Champions Trophy is held between eight cricket nations: India, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Pakistan, South Africa, Australia, Afghanistan, and England. Team India proved their dominance and won this match by 6 wickets with 45 balls to spare. Unbeaten Virat Kohli produced a century in this match and was declared the player of the match. 

2007 to 2024- T20Is

  • ICC World Twenty20 2007: Pakistan and India met to play the ICC World T20, which took place between 11 September to 24 September 2007. Among so many cricket nations, including India and Pakistan, the tenth and final match of the series was held. The tenth match was played on 14 September 2007, which was tied, and the final match was played on 24 September 2007, in which India won by 5 runs. It was a huge victory earned by Team India. They scored 157 with the loss of 5 wickets, and Pakistan couldn’t make it due to all out and were able to score 152. Irfan Pathan took 3 wickets and earned the man of the match title in the final. 
  • Pakistan in India T20I Series 2012/13: India played the 2-match series against Pakistan, which ended 1-1. The first match was played on 25 December 2012 in Bengaluru, and the second match was played on 28 December 2012 in Ahmedabad. Pakistan won by 5 wickets with 2 balls remaining, whereas India won the second match by 11 runs. The key performers of the series were (PAK) Umar Gul(3 wickets), Mohammad Hafeez(61), and (IND) Yuvraj Singh(72), Ashok Dinda(3 wickets).
  • Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2016: Men’s T20 Asia Cup held between India and Pakistan, including four other cricket nations: UAE, Afghanistan, Oman, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. India and Pakistan played the fourth match of the tournament, where India won by 5 wickets with 27 balls remaining. This match took place on 27 February 2016 in Dhaka. Virat Kohli won the man of the match. 

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022: Both teams played the sixteenth match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on 23 October 2022 at Melbourne. India again showed their power over the Shaheens and won the sixteenth match by 4 wickets. In this match, India won the toss and chose to bowl first, whereas Pakistan batted first and set the target of 159 runs with the loss of 8 wickets, but India easily chased down the target and scored 160 with the loss of 6 wickets. Unbeaten Virat Kohli performed really well and scored 82, and also earned the player of the match award.
