Ruturaj Gaikwad has been eliminated from the IPL 2025 due to an elbow injury. Now, MS Dhoni stepped up for the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings.
In the IPL 2025, CSK has been unlucky from the start of the tournament, winning only 1 match out of the 5 games they played this season till now. They are currently in the 9th position in the points table, The IPL 2025 is full of drama and unexpected incidents for CSK in every match.
In the game between CSK and RR held on 30 March, Gaikwad met with a serious elbow injury. Due to the injury, Ruturaj was eliminated from IPL 2025. In the match between CSK and RR, he was hit by the fast bowler Tushar Deshpande. Despite his injury, Gaikwad focused on his game and scored 63 runs. However, in recent matches, CSK coach Stephen Fleming announced the developments in the gameplay tactics of the team with their newly appointed former captain, MS Dhoni. Now, in the absence of Gaikwad, MS Dhoni will take over the captaincy of CSK.
MS Dhoni has led the CSK team from 2008 to 2023. It was the IPL 2024 when Ruturaj Gaikwad received captaincy from MS Dhoni. Under Dhoni’s captaincy, CSK won 5 IPL trophies in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023, becoming the champions in the IPL tournament.
Now, under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, fans are hoping that their team will perform in vintage style under their vintage skipper. Right now, CSK is in the bottom half of the table, and it will be interesting to see if the “Midas Touch” of Dhoni can bring the Yellow Army back into playoff contention. Dhoni’s first assignment as the full-time skipper of CSK in 2025 will be against KKR on 11th April 2025.
