The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) saw two of their star players make major leaps in the IPL 2025 individual charts following their clash against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Virat Kohli, who continued his rich vein of form, smashed a fluent 70 off 42 balls, propelling him to second place on the Orange Cap leaderboard. With 392 runs from nine innings, Kohli is now closing in on Gujarat Titans’ (GT) B Sai Sudharsan, who holds the top spot with 417 runs in eight matches at a striking average of 52.12 and a strike rate of 152.18.
Nicholas Pooran of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), who had held the Orange Cap for a large part of the season, has now slipped to third with 377 runs. Mumbai Indians’ (MI) Suryakumar Yadav follows closely with 373 runs, showcasing remarkable consistency despite not scoring a century. GT’s Jos Buttler and RR’s Yashasvi Jaiswal are tied at 356 runs each, with Jaiswal staging a commendable comeback after a slow start to the season.
In the bowling department, Josh Hazlewood starred with a 4-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 4 for 33. He now shares the top spot on the Purple Cap leaderboard with GT’s Prasidh Krishna, both on 16 wickets. However, Hazlewood ranks second due to a slightly higher economy rate and average.
RCB’s Krunal Pandya also entered the top ten with 2 for 31, joining six others with 12 wickets each, including GT’s Mohammed Siraj and R Sai Kishore, CSK’s Noor Ahmad, DC’s Kuldeep Yadav, MI’s Hardik Pandya, and LSG’s Shardul Thakur.
With the IPL season heating up, both the Orange and Purple Cap races are shaping into thrilling contests.
